چکیده
where b ∈ RM is a vectorized representation of M measurements, x ∈ RN is the vector of N unknowns, and A ∈ RM×N is the system matrix. In many imaging problems, the measurements are corrupted by noise. Although there are a variety of different sources, such as quantization, saturation, thermal, analog to digital conversion, and compression, typical image reconstruction problems deal with one of two models: signal-independent i.i.d. Gaussian noise or signal-dependent Shot or Poisson noise. A combination of both additive Gaussian and signal-dependent Poisson noise is also common.

Introduction: Noise and spatial resolution (SR) are the main characteristics of image quality in CT scanning affected by different radiation and technical parameters. One of the important parameters are reconstruction kernels. Different reconstruction kernels are used for noise reduction and/or edge-enhancement purposes. In this study, we investigate some reconstruction kern...
متن کاملAssessment of the Wavelet Transform for Noise Reduction in Simulated PET Images
Introduction: An efficient method of tomographic imaging in nuclear medicine is positron emission tomography (PET). Compared to SPECT, PET has the advantages of higher levels of sensitivity, spatial resolution and more accurate quantification. However, high noise levels in the image limit its diagnostic utility. Noise removal in nuclear medicine is traditionally based on Fourier decomposition o...

Signal-dependent shot noise follows a Poisson distribution and is caused by statistical quantum fluctuations in the light reaching the sensor and also in the photoelectron conversion. For example, a linear camera sensor measures irradiance – the amount of incident power of per unit area. Spectral irradiance tells us how much power was incident per unit area and per wavelength. Given some amount...
متن کاملA New Approach for Scatter Removal and Attenuation Compensation from SPECT/CT Images
Objective(s): In SPECT, the sinogram contains scatter and lack of attenuated counts that degrade the reconstructed image quality and quantity. Many techniques for attenuation and scatter correction have been proposed. An acceptable method of correction is to incorporate effects into an iterative statistical reconstruction. Here, we propose new Maximum Likelihood Expectation Maximiz...

Introduction: Recent studies of Computed Tomography (CT) conducted on patient dose reduction have recommended using an iterative reconstruction algorithm and mA (mili-Ampere) dose modulation. The current study aimed to evaluate Iterative Dose Reduction Algorithm (IDREAM) as an iterative reconstruction algorithm. Material and Methods: Two CT p...
